What Is Half Log Siding?

Half logs are wonderful because they give you the look of a full size log cabin, without having to actually have full size logs. They are cut in half length wise and then attached to the outside of the home. Most people can’t tell the difference and they look like full logs were used on the exterior, which is quite amazing!

This type of siding can be used on a variety of existing home exteriors such as concrete, metal, masonry, and wood. The advantage to having half logs is that you don’t need to worry about insulation or any of that kind of stuff. The logs that you can find are what we call “kiln dried”. This basically means they are dried out in order to give them longevity and durability. But, this also makes them even more light and easy to deal with during the installation process.

White Cedar is one of the more common choices that you find along with Red Cedar, but it all depends on where you are and what is more abundant in that location. The price is going to vary depending on where you live as well. Either way you are going to have a strong exterior to your home that will make for a wonderful appearance too. You may not have considered half log siding before, but my hope is that after this article more people will be aware of what it is and consider
