e-logs are extremely durable - yet they are easy to replace if they are ever damaged...
Even though e-logs are very durable and are able to withstand many of the man induced or naturally occuring events from errent golf balls, lawn mower projectiles or hail storms, there are the unfortunate events that may cause real damage. Ice or wind storms bringing down tree limbs on buildings, or a car or lawn tractor that may run into the building causing damage may require e-log replacement. There may even be the unlikely e-log that just has a bad grain and like any other piece of wood, becomes uncontrollable and needs to be replaced. The beauty of the e-log siding system is that the e-log is easily replaced.
Many times, minor damage like woodpecker holes in the siding, may be easily repaired with caulk. For the most part, woodpeckers probably won't waste their time on e-logs as the main reasons that woodpeckers attack logs are either to find food or to use a log to "drum" for a mate. In either case the e-log doesn't work well for the woodpecker. Termites and other insects don't take up residence in the e-log due to the treatment in the EPS core that kills insects and the e-log sound is not as loud as a natural log, therefore, woodpeckers may do some intitial pecking which may result in some small holes can be easily repaired with caulk...
For the unfortunate events that require e-log replacement, CLICK ON the video clip to the right which shows how easily the e-log is replaced should it be damaged beyond simple repair for whatever reason. This should answer any concerns regarding the maintainability and repairability of the e-log system.
