| Economical Log Siding - Minimizes Construction Costs
No specialized building skills necessary
e-logs install like conventional tongue and groove siding (also called interlocking log siding) over standard 2" x 4", 2" x 6" wood or metal studs, Structural Insulated Panels (SIP), or concrete block walls. No special installation skills are required and on-site labor costs and construction times are minimized.
No added structural costs
e-logs are compatible with any standard foundation and wall structure. In fact, a lower cost 2" x 4" stud wall with R-13 roll or batten insulation, when combined with an e-log exterior, meets or exceeds the government recommended R-19 insulation value for exterior walls. Now there is no need to build with more expensive 2" x 6" studs in order to achieve an R-19 rated exterior wall on new construction.
e-logs are easy to apply
Many people ask if they can install the e-log themselves. The answer is YES, almost anyone with some basic building expertise can easily install the e-log system. The e-logs are light weight and able to be handled by a single person. It is easier if you have a helping hand, however, we have had many installations completed by a single person. The solid wood corners can be a little on the heavy side and some help may be required for the corners, but the solid wood window and door trim is a one man job. Even the most complicated of corners, the saddle notch system is designed by Pine River to be a simple 1 man job.
e-logs reduce labor time
Due to e-log's larger stack height (giving more sq ft coverage per e-log) over conventional log siding, the installation is faster, saving money in the process. For example, an 8' long, 6" stack height piece of conventional log siding covers only 4 sq ft of wall. The same 8' length of 12" e-log with a 10" stack height covers 6.67 sq ft, representing a 66% larger footprint. This difference in size not only provides a much more realistic stack log look but it significantly reduces labor time and expense.
Pine River has a simple instruction manual that you can download that gives good installation instructions and tips. Go to Log Siding Installation Manual to download the manual.
