Pine River realized from the very beginning that manufacturing the e-log must be automated in order to bring a consistent high quality product to the market at a price that is affordable. Automation is what this country and the competitive market place is built upon. Manufacturing throughput, while achieving quality is a key driving focus behind the e-log product. Automation allows Pine River to efficiently manufacture hundreds of e-logs a day with the highest quality and product integrity possible.
The initial investment to do this is very significant; however the long term thinking by the management team will provide a significant payoff in the years to come. The market place will appreciate this investment as the e-log becomes a commonplace term in the log siding industry. Pine River’s ability to manufacture log house siding on demand will allow the price to remain as low as possible, reducing lead times and increasing profitability of the e-log building partners by keeping their processes as lean as possible as well.
The e-log's manufacturing process is virtually 100% automated. The entire assembly operation is automated with minimal intervention required other then to keep the raw material carts full and hand placing the assembled e-log into and out of the automated press table line. Production rates up to 500 logs per day are able to be turned out, that is approximately a large home or commercial building per day.
Pine River is extremely proud of this facility as it is one-of-a-kind in the World. It truly is a state of the art manufacturing facility. The entire process was designed in house with a quality specialty machinery builder in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Together this team designed and built the finest composite log siding assembly machine ever created. But it doesn’t stop there.
After the e-log is assembled it must be finished to give a hand hewn individual look, making each e-log a unique truly authentic big log look. This is currently being done by hand and it provides a beautiful look. However, the automation engineers are already at work to automate this operation. Again, bringing opportunities to lower overall manufacturing costs while yet assuring highest quality and providing the unique hand hewn log peel that gives the e-log that authentic look direct from the forest floor.
Following are some pictures of the e-log manufacturing facility. You are invited to come and visit us, please call and make an appointment to visit the home of the e-log, you won’t be disappointed!
