Automated Pre-Stain Line For Engineered Wood Log Siding

One of the things that make the e-log a better wood siding product “out the door” is that we apply a quality stain “base coat” or primer in our factory. This is very important as having a solid base coat with the proper wood conditioners, such as the algaecides, fungicides, lignostab and UV inhibitors, is the basis for the finishing top coat. Without a solid base foundation, top coats are very limited in their ability to provide long term protection for any wood siding.

Another very important aspect of our factory applied primer coat is that we control the environment. The wood is dry, the coatings are applied at the right temperature and we measure to be sure that we are applying the correct amount of the coating and we assure 100% coverage. Through our automated process, we spray the 100% solid coating on the engineered wood e-log siding, back brush to assure proper covering and penetration, and then pass through the high intensity light chamber to cure the UV coating.  The Corner logs and window trim which are 100% wood go through the same primer process, assuring their proper wood conditioning and that their final color from the field applied top coats match the e-log.

Environmentally, using a 100% solids coating eliminates the VOC’s that are potentially damaging to the surrounding environment. Thus, the e-log engineered wood siding system is not only getting a high quality, tightly controlled “primer coat” application, we as a company are being sensitive and conscious of the environment we live and work in.

Following are a few pictures of our stain line and the UV chamber.
